Autumn Harvest Wreath in Watercolour and AIM magazine

I wrote these pages for the last Artisan in Miniature magazine AIM, that was to be available in November and sent them to our fabulous Editor Sally Watson. Shortly after I sent these pages and a few photos for the gallery Sally passed away. So sad for her family and friends. I was shocked and devastated. She did so much of the magazine herself and with the help of the editorial team but she rallied everyone to get motivated and it really worked for me. I had stepped down from formatting the magazine which I enjoyed for years because of my essential tremor in my hands. I will miss Sally's incredible sense of humour and determined personality so much!! We have not heard yet if AIM magazine will continue.

Hi Everyone, 

I hope you will enjoy reading your free AIM magazine number 41 for Spring. It is a lovely issue and John and my last issue where we are be on the editorial team of AIM after nearly two years. It has been very creative time, I learned so much and I've got to know so many wonderful artisans.  I especially enjoyed formatting many of the magazines articles, Galleries and projects.

Just before the magazine was published the two pages shown above were left out and I feel it is important to let as many people as possible see them especially because one contained all of the links from everyone who contributed their photos to the Gallery. The upper page should have been page 3 of the Gallery and the bottom page should have been the last page of the Spring Gallery.  Enjoy!!

New free 40th issue of AIM Magazine

Hi Everyone,

The new 40th edition of Artisans in Miniature is now available for you to enjoy. There are great articles and projects from our 300 members. I'm still enjoying my roll on the Editorial team of AIM but have had to cut back a bit on what I do because of my essential tremor. My tremor is mostly in my hands so sometimes formatting is more difficult. I have included a free printable in three scales of miniature French Postcards and will try to get it up here in a pdf file so you can have more detail. I also enjoyed working on the Gallery, always such a pleasure to display such wonderful minis.

We have recently arrived home from a wonderful 16 day cruise to Europe and back across the Atlantic. What a terrific time! We visited Venice, Rome, Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Monte Carlo and Barcelona again and the Azores. The weather was great, so many great sights. I hope to post photos of Venice shop windows that I took soon.

AIM Mag Issue 27 October 2010

Steampunk Inspriation Board and September's AIM

For Septembers AIM, Artisan In Miniature, free on line magazine, I designed a Steampunk Inspiration board with antique and vintage images from my collection of antique books and magazines to accompany my article. Some of my favorite images were from a French card collection book and others from popular science monthlies from the 20s.

Also included is a photo of a Steam machine I took while visiting a Steam show. It was really fun to embellish it too.

AIM Magazine for September is out!! Ive been busier and happier than ever organizing some articles for it and formatting others. One article is about Steampunk, another is Smaller Scales where you can see many fabulous micro mini shops by Patricia Paul and Francesca Vernuccio, they are all spectacular. I also wrote an article about miniature Noahs Arks and there are fabulous examples by Patricia Paul, Linda Master and my own Noahs Ark kits and mini books. There are also some free miniature printable books at the end of the article.  

I am really sorry I have not been spending much time in blog land, Ive been getting acquainted with a new paint program and with an active mini business, life just goes so quickly, or maybe that is because I am getting old. My husband and I celebrated our 38th anniversary on Thursday!. Hope you are all enjoying life, I love to hear from you.! I like this new font but it does not make apostrophes!

In case you are wondering where I have been hiding, I have recently been delighted to be asked to be part of the editorial team of AIM, Artisans in Miniature, magazine. I've had  a wonderful time helping to format many of the articles with Vickie Guile's suggestions and excellent advise. John is involved with the team now as well. I'm so sorry I haven't had time, because of our mini business, formatting and minis, to keep up with viewing your blogs. This week I hope to get around to seeing many of your new additions to your blogs, it is always a delight and pleasure.

Bea says in her August editorial column about the new AIM magazine:

I've written an article for August AIM magazine, Smaller Scales about Quarter Scale shops, 1:48. I've featured my Chubby Cheek Toy Shop, Janet's Smith's scrumptious Shabby Chic Chocolate Shop and Bea Broadwood's two fabulous quarter scale shop kits. I have included a free printable of quarter scale toys and books in the magazine that you can print or download.

Debbie Wright's Tiny Treasures, is the guest Blog of the Month, I was so pleased to see this because Debbie is really a blogging Guru. "Paris Miniatures" fabulous new web site is featured in the Web of the Month article.

Betty Hagen, who I was delighted to see added my Steampunk photos to her miniature metalworking blog has included a wonderful Blueberry Pie article and Janet Smith blueberry pancakes in three scales.

AIM, Artisan in Miniature Magazine for June/July 2010 is out now!

The special June/July issue of AIM magazine http://www.artisansinminiature.com/  is out now, just click on the link to take you your free IMag for some terrific reading, inspiration and projects. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this wonderful group and am proud to have two articles published in this issue. One article has a pattern for a newborn coat about "Clothes Pin Dolls' page 12 and the other is about "Tea Parties" page 62, with an inspiration board with young girls having tea parties for ideas for dressing dolls and display.
I always love all of the terrific food ideas and displays, there is a summer fete display that is presented so wonderfully, articles about miniaturist, terrific regular features and much more.

Here are two of the inspiration boards that accompany my article on "Clothes Pin Dolls" with directions about making the white coat. Two of the clothes pin dolls are dressed in my newborn and toddler Marigold Garden kit.

Painting Workshop, Illuminating in Miniature

First I would like to say how thrilled I am to have 300 followers, please have a look at some of their wonderful blogs.

Recently I joined the AIM or Artisans In Miniature magazine group who create a fabulous, "free" online miniature magazine with Bea Broadwood as the tireless editor and the editorial team. In this months issue you will find three articles I wrote and many other interesting articles and amazing photos by fantastic miniature artists. One article accompanies the Inspiration Board I created above called Illuminating in Miniature. I had purchased a fabulous book on the Art of Illumination last time we were in England that I reproduced as a book in miniature. I also explain how to create your own Illumination of a Gothic letter A shown above, if any of you are interested in this style of art for you castles, medieval or religious scene.
