A Mini Miniature Show starts today until Sunday, New Snowy Town Scene kit

Just organizing my page for A Mini Miniature Show starts today until Sunday. Hope to see you there. http://aminiminiatureshow.weebly.com/
When I was young at around this time of year and closer to Christmas, I used to love walking up and down our main street and visiting all the wonderful shops, fabric shops, toy stores etc. It was so much fun to just window shop and the windows were always fabulous. That was what I was thinking of when I started this kit but it really morphed, LOL.
I have just finished a new Quarter Scale kit as a roundtable kit for the show. It is called a Snowy Town Scene that is laser cut on heavy paper and the 4 layers and buildings can be arranged in many creative ways.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how behind I am with posting on my blog. I guess the good thing is that I've really been busy designing and with various shows. The NAME online Calendar show as really fun as are the A Mini Miniature Show each month. It ends today. We have a few roundtables up with John's 4th shop in his town setting. https://aminiminiatureshow.weebly.com/dealers.html  There are lots of really fun dealers, I've enjoyed looking at all the listings and buying a few things! Tomorrow NAME online Roundtables start on there CreateMiniatures.org website, https://create.miniatures.org/
I also really enjoyed the online Kensington "London Dollhouse Showcase", amazing we are able to see such fabulous miniatures from dealers all over the world online.
https://dollshouseshowcase.com/the-showcase/showcase/

All the kits shown above are available in our Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/jdayminis  Many are still at their Into Price if you do a search. We have been enjoying the beautiful weather yesterday and walked for 1 1/2 hours around the waterfront out at Sidney, BC. Today we hope to walk around our waterfront in Oak Bay. So beautiful!

Thank you so much to those of you who have ordered lately, it is wonderful to be so busy and I've been inspired with so many new ideas. My most recent idea I put up yesterday in Etsy was the quarter scale sunflower kit in the top photo. They were so much fun to make and being laser cut on heavy yellow paper means that they are very sturdy for gluing and display.

Thank you so much for looking, Mini Hugs, Jean

New laser cut Reading Nook, Caned Sofa and Lace kits in 1:48 scale"

Hi Everyone,

These photos above are quarter scale, 1:48 items. I've been working on since I last blogged. I also spent a few weeks organizing all of my supplies and studio, sewing room and collectibles room, so much easier to find everything and best of all it has made me feel wonderful. I used lots of new plastic containers from Michaels which really helped. The first photo shows a Reading Nook in an Armoire, I've been having so much fun designing this kit and I'm working on another one as well that I will post when it is finished. I hope you are all enjoying minis in some small way!! Hugs, Jean

New Laser Cut Cotton Laces in 1:12 and 1:48 scales Ballroom danced in a Movie

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the idea of Spring or whatever season you are celebrating.

We love Ballroom Dancing and have been taking lessons and dancing now for about 5 years. We had an exciting time a few weeks ago ballroom dancing in the background for a Hallmark Movie, "Once Upon a Prince" that is coming out on TV in April. We danced in the beautiful Ballroom in the Governor General's Mansion here in Victoria B.C. What a terrific experience except it was a 14 hour day, Since most of  the time I felt like I was floating to be in such wonderful surroundings with exceptional actors, other dancers and extras.

While back on earth, LOL, I've been really enjoying designing images for my laser lace grouping kits which I sell on Etsy and through our website. I especially enjoy using images from my antique French Needlework books and magazines such as the French Cherub kit in the first photo at 1:12 scale shown with some of a couple of my porcelain pieces I used to sell years ago. The same design is shown below that one in 1:48 scale for curtains and lace trims, pillows and centerpieces. The bottom 3 photos show how the laces are sold with tabs holding the images that just need to be removed.

Have a wonderful mini life. Mini Hugs, Jean

New 1:48 Retro Christmas Paper Laser Cut Kits or 1:12 scale Christmas tree decor

These quarter scale retro 1:48 or quarter scale Christmas kits will be available on our website and Etsy soon. I hate to cause anyone undue stress with tiny pieces flying everywhere before Christmas but I just couldn't resist designing extremely tiny laser cut paper designs. I was really happy with the reindeer, so small, yet all of their detail shows up. I need to fix the trains before I sell them because they do not hold together well yet. The 2 kits on the left are on lighter papers and have lace designs while the 2 kits on the right are on heavier paper that can be easily coloured with felt pens or watercolours etc.

I am hoping to use textured snow or sparkles on the background design in the lower right and attach some of the pieces to that before putting it on a fire place. The doilies can be used stacked for trees, angels or cones too. The Merry Christmas sign is the same as the red and silver one we used in the 50's and later. The ornaments are very 50's and later too. I hope to have more photos before Christmas of them in a scene. Happy Holiday Season to everyone!!

PS    The very talented miniaturist, Elizabeth from Studio E http://studioeminiatures.blogspot.ca/
has just suggested that these could be used to one twelfth scale Christmas Decorations and she is so right!! I'm so pleased she mentioned it. The reindeer would be about 5" in real life and the trees and nutcracker would be 3 to 4" in height etc. Great idea, thanks Elizabeth.

New Quarter Scale 1:48 Kits for August

I hope you have all had a terrific summer or winter for those downunder!

I am sitting at my computer working on designs for new kits for October, talking to Alex, our son while he is packaging kits, John is sitting across from us working at his computer too, I suddenly realized I hadn't done a blog for August (or July)!!! Since it is the last day of August, I thought I would do a blog today. I am always so optimistic that I will have lots of time to look at everyone's blogs, do lots of blogging and many new designs, it just doesn't work out that way..

Sheee, it seems the older I get the more time flies and I really mean that!!!! However with the beautiful weather we have been having, I have to admit walking with John along the beach and along to waterfront to sit at the Marina or Oak Bay Beach Hotel for tea is a top priority. It is good for my health too and usually takes an hour of walking. I really enjoy cooking our gluten free, vegan meals too and have loved great vegan recipes from cookbooks such as Oh She Glows and Forks before Knives. There is a great documentary on vegetarian eating on Netflix too called Forks before Knives if you have every thought of becoming vegetarian it is very good.

Above are some quarter scale kits I designed for Quarter Connection Roundtables and Shelly's  Miniature Mini Show last month. I hope to have them up on our website soon and Etsy too.

1:48 Scale Floral Friday!

For Floral Friday the top photo shows some of the fimo florals I've been designing for my mini scenes, As you can see they have flat backs which makes them very impressionistic. Since I have a tremor in my hands now sculpting close to the tile where my hand can lean on the the table works really well for me.

I've also shown a photo of our handsome son son Alex who is such a wonderful help to our business for so many areas of packaging and putting together some of the kits that my tremor causes me problems with. The last photo is a peak of part of our studio, John works on the right side, I work in the middle and back and Alex works in the far back corner when he is over too. We have lots of great lighting and storage. I will post other views of the display cases and my collectibles room as well.

The middle photos show how I have used the florals in my various scenes and new Quarter Scale tall fireplace. The  1:48 Scale paper kit with bunnies I called the Bunny Hop and working with the heavier paper is so much fun. These are available on our website, Etsy and eBay.

Thank you so much for looking. I'm sorry I haven't been around again as much as I would like but I'm working on my kits for Quarter Connection roundtables, Shelly's Show in the summer and Ballroom dancing as much as we can.
