30th Annual Sand Sculpting Canadian Open Competition in Parksville

I thought you might like to see some of the fabulous sand sculptures that were up on Vancouver Island in Parksville B.C. We stayed there for a few days after coming back from Nimmo Bay. We stayed in a hotel that has a view of the beach in the second photo of John. We just had to walk across the sand when the tide was out and it does go out really far, to see the wonderful exhibit. I loved them all and it was very difficult to decide on a winner but I loved the last one I have shown of the boy sleeping with his bear fighting off the dragon in his nightmare.

All the best, Jean

Found a Freebie Blog, great for minis too!!

On Cathe Holden's wonderful web site Just Something Made,  http://justsomethingimade.com/  I found these full sized labels above that you can download in a variety of colours that would be wonderful for vintage miniature labels too. They are available through the World Label blog.for downloading There are so many other freebies on Cathe's blog as well that would be terrific for miniatures as well, I noticed some red circle shapes that would make great plates. Cathe designed the labels using antique Dennison labels. You can find them here. Just click on the freebies link at the top of her blog to see many more. I first heard about these from my terrific Canadian freebies and coupon newsletter Simply Frugal which is wonderful for great ideas too.

Deer, Website Summer Sale and Etsy Sale

Here is a photo I took a couple of days ago of a deer having a light snack in our backyard and yes we do live in the city!!! Victoria B.C. is not quite sure what to do about the deer problem but they are beautiful and I can't help feeling that they have more right to be in our back yard than we do.

There is a new summer sale on our web site jdayminis.com. If you purchase 4 newborn or baby kits you can ask for a 5th kit free of equal value. It seems like such a long time since I have posted. John and I have been very busy with ballroom dancing, the garden, walks to the beach and of course our miniature business on eBay and my digital downloads. I've recently designed a new header for my web site and Etsy which made me very happy since that is something that has been on my to do list for ages. Also I have been adding a lot more digital downloads to my Etsy store if you are interested, many summer antique French postcard images that I love. Here is also a sale in my Etsy shop.

Please Visit my Etsy store for this special offer.

Also please remember if you are interested in miniature free printables I offer a number of them here.

Have a wonderful summer, Hugs, Jean

New "Spring" AIM & last issue on the Editorial Team

AIM Imag Issue 41 Spring

Hi Everyone,
I hope you will enjoy reading your free AIM magazine number 41 for Spring. It is a lovely issue and John and my last issue where we are be on the editorial team of AIM after nearly two years. It has been very creative time, I learned so much and I've got to know so many wonderful artisans.  I especially enjoyed formatting many of the magazines articles, Galleries and projects.
Just before the magazine was published the two pages shown above were left out and I feel it is important to let as many people as possible see them especially because one contained all of the links from everyone who contributed their photos to the Gallery. The upper page should have been page 3 of the Gallery and the bottom page should have been the last page of the Spring Gallery.  Enjoy!!

Cheers, Jean

Free Printable Spring Cards, miniature ones too.

Here are two more free Spring printables from the late 1920's. The Birthday card is so sweet, with the little bird dropped the young girl a note.

I really liked the Pussy Willow branches and house images on the lower card. Just click on the images and right click to save. The actual size of the Birthday card is 3.9" in width and the Easter Card is 6.44" in width. Hope you enjoy.

Free printable Spring Card

Here is a lovely Spring gift card I though you might enjoy from the late 1920's. I thought it was so pretty. You could use it for one of your crafts, scrapbooking, miniatures, collages etc. or as a gift card to someone. The actual size of the card is nearly six inches in width. Just click on the card and a larger card will open in a new widow for you to right click and save.

On the back is the loveliest written message and one of the reasons I love collecting old gift cards, it is like a peek into other's lives.

"Dearest Mommie and Girls,

"This is one Easter we are away from you but thinking of you anyway. Daddy bought Joy a little wooden bunny wagon with Easter eggs and she was delighted with Grandma & Auntie's chocolate pig and basket of eggs. Daddy also brought home a beautiful red tulip plant with 4 nice blossoms on it for me. It stands on the buffet and reflects in the mirror and is so lovely."

New free 40th issue of AIM Magazine

Hi Everyone,

The new 40th edition of Artisans in Miniature is now available for you to enjoy. There are great articles and projects from our 300 members. I'm still enjoying my roll on the Editorial team of AIM but have had to cut back a bit on what I do because of my essential tremor. My tremor is mostly in my hands so sometimes formatting is more difficult. I have included a free printable in three scales of miniature French Postcards and will try to get it up here in a pdf file so you can have more detail. I also enjoyed working on the Gallery, always such a pleasure to display such wonderful minis.
Hope you enjoy it.
